FAQ

What is the Droneball 360?

Droneball is a internal inspection drone a commercial grade collision tolerant drone designed in the UK for drone inspection mainly in indoor environments. The patent-pending Droneball took over 2 years of research and development and uses the best industrial components. We are excited to share its unique technology with you.

What exactly do I get when I order a Droneball?

1 x Hard shell carry case, 1 x Droneball 360  and LED lighting, 1 x Smart controller (Ground station) , App software, 1 x Drone AC Charger, 1 x controller charger, 1 x HDMI Cable ( This is for connecting to the RC hdmi port so you can view live footage on a secondary device  ) 3 x Drone Batteries. Spare parts.

What will Droneball be used for?

Droneball is a indoor inspection drone and for Security/Search and Rescue applications. The Droneball can operate in dangerous/enclosed environments and beyond line of site. The Droneball can remain stable and find its own way through a building.

What's the difference between fixed caged drones and a free spinning rotational cage drone like the Droneball 360 ?

,A fixed cage drone offers blade protection but does little to protect the drone from loosing control when impacting a structure as the Drone is not disconnected/decoupled from the outer cage. Drones with a fixed cage are also more susceptible to tipping over if you were to try and land. Droneball is different if the Droneball 360 cage hits a obstacle the cage will rotate independently from the Drone as it’s completely disconnected as a result the drone remains level and stable. Droneball 360 is capable of rolling on the ground and walls and is the only inspection Drone on the market with a 360 degree free rotating cage ideal for Drone internal inspection applications. The camera/lighting can be moved independently inside the cage.

Is Droneball Modular?
Yes the Drone has been designed to be repairable in the field. All parts can be replaced and will be available through us and our dealers.
How long does the cage take to Assemble/Dissemble?
The cages unique design allows full unhindered access for battery replacement and maintenance. The drone can simply be removed from the cage in a matter of seconds. The drone battery can also be hot swapped by carefully squeezing your hand through the larger cage bars.
How does this collision tolerant drone work?

The outer cage protects the drone and can rotate on a special 360 axis  bearing which enables 360 rotation of the cage in any direction with no lock points. This unique patent pending technology is exclusive to Droneball 360 and the only drone in the world with full 360 decoupled outer cage collision tolerance.

Can Droneball roll as well as fly?
Yes the drone can roll up walls, across ceilings and along the floor.
How long will Droneball fly with a fully charged battery?

Around 10 mins. The battery can be swapped out by splitting the cage or hot swapped by carefully squeezing your hand through the larger cage bars.

Is the drone safe around people and Animals?
The Droneball cage offers some protection from the blades thus the drone is much safer for both people and animals ( caution required ). You can also catch the drone safely although some caution is required.
What's the Net weight of this Drone?

850 gramsincluding battery

What diameter is the drone cage?

385cm cage diameter which makes it the Smallest collision tolerant Drone in the world. Access tighter areas and have more room to man-oeuvre.

What’s the difference between this crash proof drone and other obstacle avoidance/position hold systems ?

Droneball does not need to avoid obstacles and can use obstacles to find its way. Drones fitted with obstacle avoidance systems/position hold Camera vision system’s ( To mimic GPS position hold ) are affected by environmental conditions.  These systems are not totally reliable and are completely ineffective in low light,  Dark, Dusty or reflective industrial environment and enclosed spaces as they struggle to see due to low light or get confused with reflective surfaces and can cloud up with dust or moisture and no longer work effectively..

Will Droneball save me time with repairs?
The drone is completely protected by the outer cage thus offering a higher level of protection. Although caution is needed not to damage the cage and drone. We sell spare cages via our website so its best to have one handy if the worst would be to happen.
Could I remove the drone from the cage and fly it?
Sure if you desire you can remove the Drone completely from the cage and also remove the Drones cage connecting parts as it’s a all modular design so can be broken down easily and quickly.
What’s the material of the Droneball cage?

Carbon fibre and kevlar which has several advantages including high stiffness, high tensile strength, low weight, high chemical resistance, high temperature tolerance and low thermal expansion.

What payload is fitted to the Drone?

4K camera, on board LED lighting system with full remote control brightness adjustment enabling operation in darkness and the ability to see clearly in different conditions.

Can you pan the Camera around?
Full movement of the camera is possible via the controller. Pan up/down via a electronic servo and you can also move the drone inside the ball freely left and right on the yaw axis rotary bearing. This gives you full camera motion to look around.
How long would it record with 32G micro SD card?
32G Micro SD card enables around 280 min video record
What is the range of Droneball ?

Open Area range – 3000- 8000 Metre. Indoor range 500 Metre.  Wireless communication system that provides live 2.4G video feedback allowing the pilot to fly beyond visual line of sight.

What Testing standards has the Droneball passed?
CE, ROHS and RED (Radio Equipment Directive)
Where does Droneball ship to?

We work with major courier companies so that we are able to ship worldwide.

Is the cost of shipping included?
No shipping is not included and is charged separately based on your location.
What is the warranty?

We provide a 30 day standard warranty for any defects or issues as a result of manufacturing and shipping.

Where are spare parts available from?
